講義目的・到達目標
Through engaging lectures, problem-solving exercises, and real-world applications, students will deepen their understanding of microeconomic concepts and develop analytical skills to evaluate economic decisions in diverse contexts. This course aims to equip students with the tools necessary for practicing strategic decision-making, analyzing and interpreting economic phenomena, and fostering critical thinking.
1. Through game theory part, students will enhance their capacity to analyze outcomes of strategic interactions. 2. Students will develop the ability to apply microeconomic concepts to analyze consumer behavior, firm decisions, and market interactions effectively. 3. Students will utilize microeconomic theory to evaluate real-world economic issues, such as market failures and public goods, for informed decision-making as consumers, producers, and citizens. 授業のサブタイトル・キーワード

講義内容・授業計画
This intermediate microeconomics course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of social and market interactions through the lens of economic analysis. In the first part of the course, students delve into game theory, decision making, and optimization, gaining insights into how individuals navigate social interactions and institutions. They explore concepts such as property rights, and coordination problems, along with institutional responses. The second part focuses on market interactions, covering topics like market demand, production, cost, and different market structures such as perfect competition, monopoly, and oligopoly.
Week 1: Introduction, Orientation Part 1. Understanding Social Interactions as an Economist Week 2: Basic game theory - Coordination problems and Economic Institutions Week 3: Decision making - Preferences, beliefs, and constraints Week 4: Optimization - Rational Consumer Choice Week 5: Property, Power and Exchange - Mutual Gains and Conflicts Week 6: Coordinaton Failures and Institutional Responses Week 7: Midterm exam Part 2. Understanding Market Interactions Week 8: Market Demand Week 9: Applications of Rational Choice and Demand Theories Week 10: Production Week 11: Cost Week 12: Perfect Competition Week 13: Monopoly Week 14: Oligopoly and Monopolistic Competition Week 15: Overview Final exam * Adjustments to the schedule may be made based on student progress and needs. 成績評価の基準・方法
Grading Criteria: Students who can comprehend and apply basic concepts in microeconomics will be awarded credits based solely on their scores, with grades of S (90 points or higher), A (80 points or higher), B (70 points or higher), and C (60 points or higher).

履修上の注意・履修要件
Ensure that students have successfully completed Microeconomics 1 and Microeconomics 2, to ensure they have the necessary foundational knowledge for the intermediate course. And also emphasize the importance of possessing basic mathematical skills, especially in algebra and calculus, as these skills are essential for understanding and applying the analytical concepts in intermediate microeconomics.
