Each course aims to provide students with opportunities to improve their language proficiencies, to develop their communication skills for practical use, and to increase their knowledge and understanding of American or British life and culture.

This year, one course will be held at each of the following three universities:

・ University of Washington (Seattle, Washington, USA) - 3 weeks during summer break.
・ University of Hawaii at Manoa (Hononlulu, Hawaii, USA) - 3 weeks during spring break.
・ University of Sussex (Brighton, Sussex, England) - 3 weeks during summer break.

Each university provides a different program and different living arrangements.  In classes, you will study both language and culture; language for practical use and the local culture to ensure a meaningful experience while you are there.  You will be able to expand your English vocabulary, learn current American or British expressions and idioms, and develop your speaking, listening, writing, and reading abilities.  You will have opportunities to practice using English in real-life situations with the local people and with students from all over the world.  You will have chances to visit many sightseeing spots and have many cultural experiences in the region you are staying.

For more information about these programs, go to our school’s website and click on “International” and then click on “海外研修・サマーキャンプ情報.” After this, you can choose to look at whatever programs you are interested in.

[Preparation]
Study the social conditions and culture of the country or region to which the participants will be sent, mainly through literature (about 2 hours each session). Also, students are expected to improve their language skills in English, and other languages spoken in the region.
[Review]
Students are expected to prepare for the next day's program by summarizing their field activities and research in a field notebook (about 2-3 hours each day).

Students will be evaluated based on their participation in class and how well they carry out the particular assignments in each program.

Direct feedback will be given in each class.

Students need to actively participate in the classroom with their classmates and teachers and outside the classroom with the local people and the cultural opportunities available.  High motivation and willingness to communicate with people, to talk to people and ask and answer questions, and to try new things will make your stay overseas incredibly rewarding and broaden your points of view.
