講義目的・到達目標
【Objective of the course】
This course aims at providing students entry-level Korean language knowledge including grammar, pronunciation, and simple communication.
【Goal of achievement】
The goal is to be able to read, write, listen, and speak Korean at entry-level. Students are also expected to become capable of understanding and having simple conversation in various scenes.

講義内容・授業計画
【Course lecture】
This course would start from learning how to read and write Korean letters together with correct pronunciation to lay the foundation. As a next step, students will build listening and speaking skills through active conversation practice in the class.
【Weekly lecture plan】
To reach the goals of this course, each class will be conducted using the designated textbook. Each lesson is organised based on the textbook’s Lesson curriculum that has different central theme. Lessons are half lecture (grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary) and half active practice and/or pair work with classmates. This course would cover Lesson 1 to 13 in the textbook.
Weekly course schedule might get changed depending on the students' level of understanding and the lecturer would inform such changes in the class in advance.

【予習】
Skim the next Lesson pages in the textbook (1h)
【復習】
1) Workbook homework for the learned Lesson of the week (1h)
2) Word test (2-3 mins in the beginning of the class, Study hour: 10 mins) *No Word test if there is Quiz.
3) Quiz (Week 4/ 8/ 12/ 15, 4 quizzes/ 15 mins each, Study hour: 1~2hrs)
Areas to study for Word test and Quiz will be informed in advance.

Pair/ group practice during the class-hour.
成績評価の基準・方法
【Grading】
Students will be evaluated and graded based on achievement of entry-level Korean language skills indicated in the objective of this course. Grading is marked by S(90 points~), A(80 points~), B(70 points~), and C(60 points~)
【Method of evaluation】
Comprehensive evaluation based on:
1) Class participation and homework (30%)
2) Word test (10%)
3) Quiz (30%)
4) Term exam (30%)

課題・試験結果の開示方法
1) Homework: Check in the beginning of the class
2) Word test: Return to students with scores
3) Quiz: Return to students with scores and comments

履修上の注意・履修要件
1) NO credit to be given if you absent for five times.
2) Students are required to inform the lecturer in advance via Universal Passport if they are not able to come to the class. Students are required to prepare for the next lesson with having finished homework and reviewed previous lessons.
3) This course is conducted off-line (face-to-face).
