講義目的・到達目標
This course aims to:
1. understand the concept of culture and its influence on management practices. 2. analyze cultural dimensions and frameworks that explain cross-cultural differences. 3. develop strategies for effective cross-cultural communication and negotiation. 4. explore leadership styles and motivational techniques in different cultural contexts. After completing this course, the students are expected to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to manage effectively in a globalized business environment while understanding cultural differences and developing strategies to work across cultures. 授業のサブタイトル・キーワード

講義内容・授業計画
This course is uniquely designed and arranged to enable the students to understand the concept of cross-cultural practices and their significance in the globalized world. The initial two sessions target to convey a broad understanding of culture and cultural dimensions. The next six sessions examine cultural differences, culture shock, acculturation process, intercultural understanding, and cross-cultural communication barriers. The last four sessions focus on cultures in organizations while touching upon the cultural map of the world.
A total of ten assignments will be given at the end of every class and be discussed at the beginning of every following class. (1) Orientation: Briefing the class plan, enquiring about students’ expectations and goal adjustment. (2) Understanding Culture (Readings: Michael Minkov, Chapter 1; Instructor's lecture, Students assignment 1.) (3) Cultural Dimensions (Readings: Material will be provided; Discuss students' assignment 1, Instructor's lecture, Students assignment 2.) (4) Cultural Differences (Readings: Material will be provided; Discuss students assignment 2, Instructor's lecture, Students assignment 3.) (5) Culture Shock and Acculturation (Readings: G. J. アクティブ・ラーニングの内容
Oral presentations and open discussion will be carried out, periodically. The students will be given ample opportunities to explore, discuss, and present themselves.
成績評価の基準・方法
Students will be graded with an “S”, "A”, "B”, & C based on the grading criteria: Class discussions and comments 20%, Assignments and short presentations 40%, and Final presentation and report 40%.
