事前・事後学習(予習・復習)の内容・時間の目安
This course is a fundamental one for business students. In this course, each student will be assessed based on his/her conceptual and quantitative skills in recording, summarizing, and reporting business transactions. Students will be given a lot of exercises and problems as a home task to measure their conceptual and quantitative skills. This requires substantial time to study at home after each session.   Also, there will be a mid-term and a final exam to assess students’ conceptual and quantitative skills. In addition, class participation and attendance will be considered to assess students’ interest in accounting. As a whole, this requires substantial hours of study in the pre and post-sessions. I suggest that students read at least one hour before and 1 hour after each session individually or in a team. In total, the students need to spend 60 hours of study outside the class.
アクティブ・ラーニングの内容
Active learning tools are mainly based on class lectures,  assignments, Mid-term evaluations, and final exams. A comprehensive problem will be given in the classroom for discussion and knowledge sharing in groups. Before delivering each lecture, the students will be given PowerPoint slides to make the necessary preparations for the upcoming classes. The instructor will first discuss accounting terminology, concepts, and rationales behind each topic to increase the students’ theoretical knowledge. Then, the instructor will solve several problems in the class to help improve the quantitative skill of the students. Afterward, students must solve prescribed exercises and problems at home and discuss their solutions with peers. Then, the instructor will discuss some critical problems in the class. Finally, the instructor will upload a solution for each assignment problem so that the students can rectify their mistakes.
