講義目的・到達目標
【講義目的】The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of Japanese society from the perspectives of cultural anthropology and sociology. The first half of the course will focus on the historical development of Japan, with an emphasis on cultural traditions and patterns of thought. (Tamas)
The second part of this course focuses on the role of migration in Japan as the country is facing a demographic transition. For students who may consider working in this country, an understanding of migration and ethnicity is relevant. In this context, we will investigate care migration and skilled migration from the perspectives of employment, skills, and ethnicity. (Terada)

【到達目標】In the first part of the course, students will become familiar with basic aspects of Japanese culture, defining concepts related to the Japanese psyche and behavior, as well as contemporary customs and practices relevant to society.
In the second part of the course, students will gain an understanding of migration to Japan through various readings. Students will reflect upon concepts that are relevant to the study of migration such as ethnicity and identity.
