【講義目的】
Students will aim to examine social and cultural issues through comparative research across different cultures and countries. We will especially compare Japan and the UK.

【到達目標】
Upon completing the course, students will
a)    deepen their understanding of social and cultural issues by comparing Japan with international contexts
b)    acquire the ability to consider social and cultural issues from multiple perspectives
c)    develop critical thinking skills and apply them to global contexts

【講義内容】
This course is based on active learning, which allows students to develop a deeper understanding of cross-cultural studies. Following a lecture on one of the topics listed below, students are expected to participate in a short discussion.

The textbook, made by the instructor, will be distributed in the class.

Students are expected to answer questions from the instructor and participate in discussions.  

【成績評価の基準】
Credits will be awarded based on the achievement and effort in relation to the lecture objectives and achievement goals. The grading is as follows:
S (90 points or higher)
A (80 points or higher)
B (70 points or higher)
C (60 points or higher).
【成績評価の方法】
contribution to discussion by meaningful comments (40%), presentation or essay (60%)

It is important to note that students are expected to create their own work and not solely rely on generative AI for reports, essays, dissertations, and other academic assignments.

However, with the instructor's approval, students may use AI to assist them within the limits of the instructor's guidelines.

It is crucial to exercise caution regarding the authenticity of the content generated by AI. Using such content may lead to unintentional plagiarism or copyright infringement. Therefore, students should apply their critical thinking skills when utilizing AI-generated text to avoid any such issues.
