【Course Objectives】
Students will develop a foundational understanding of community planning theories, disaster management strategies, and participatory land-use methods. They will analyze case studies, engage in discussions, and present findings to enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills applicable to real-world planning scenarios.

【Learning Outcome】
Understand key theories and approaches in community planning, including land-use strategies, participatory planning, and disaster risk management. Analyze and compare real-world case studies, assessing the effectiveness of planning methods in diverse community settings. Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills by evaluating planning challenges and proposing solutions. Enhance communication and presentation skills through discussions and assignment.

【Course Overview】
This course introduces fundamental principles of community planning, including disaster management, land-use strategies, and participatory approaches. Through lectures, case studies, and discussions, students will explore real-world applications and planning challenges. The course emphasizes interactive learning, leveraging diverse expertise from three lecturers.

Students are expected to engage in pre- and post-lecture study to deepen their understanding:
Pre-Learning: Review assigned readings, case studies, or lecture materials to prepare for discussions.
Post-Learning: Reflect on lecture content, contribute to discussions, and work on assignments or presentations.
Additional preparation may be needed for presentations and research-based tasks.
アクティブ・ラーニングの内容
This course emphasizes interactive learning through group discussions, collaborative case analyses, and student presentations.
成績評価の基準・方法
[Grading Criteria]
Credit will be awarded based on the level of achievement in the abilities (knowledge, expressiveness, etc.) outlined in the lecture objectives and goals. The grading scale is as follows: S (90 points or more), A (80 points or more), B (70 points or more), C (60 points or more).
[Evaluation Method]
•    Assignment Submission (40%) – After the first four lectures, students will submit an individual written assignment reflecting on theories and case studies in community planning.•    Group Presentation (30%) – Students will collaborate in groups to analyze case studies and present their findings in lectures 9-10.•    Individual Presentation (30%) – Each student will deliver an individual presentation based on topics covered in lectures 5-8.NOTE: There is no final exam.

課題・試験結果の開示方法
Graded assignments and presentations will be returned with feedback through the university’s learning management system. Students will receive evaluation comments to help improve their understanding and performance.

Final Grades: Overall course grades will be released according to the university’s academic calendar.
