Overview

In this course students will be able to learn about the contribution of technology in creating the world around us. Students will be able to learn additional vocabulary, practise reading, and discuss the impact of the discussion topic on the way we live today.

1) Understand the scientific method of discovery.
2) Space and the composition of the solar system.
3) Discuss “the beauty of mathematics”.
4) Understand the importance of lighting to humans: “from light bulbs to LEDs”.
5) Consider the risks and rewards of radiation.
6) Medicine and “the man who saved millions”.
7) Explore the mysteries of gravity.
8) Study and explain the “strange world of atoms”.
9) Debate and discuss interstellar travel.
10) Debate the problem of limitless energy.
11) Discover nanotechnology and its applications.
12) Can we create the perfect human?
13) Quanta and new age of computing.
14) Debate AI and the coming of machines.
15) Consider the future of medicine.

英語学習は自ら言葉と向き合い思考し表現するプロセスを最重要視するものである。英語コア科目における予習復習に生成系 AI の利用は推奨しない。
また生成系AI による出力を利用した課題提出は認めない。課題レポートが生成系 AI による出力であることが判明した場合は単位を認定しない、又は認定を取り消すことがある。

Students are expected to engage with and participate in every lesson.

成績評価の基準・方法

＜成績評価の基準＞
様々な社会活動において必要となる英語文を読んで理解し、その内容の分析や内容に対する意見を表現することができるものに単位を授与する。講義目的・到達目標に記載する能力の到達度に応じて、ＳからＣまで成績を与える。
＜成績評価の方法＞
レポート・小テストなどによる平常点40％、試験60％を基準として、受講態度を含めて総合的に評価する。

課題・試験結果の開示方法

小テスト等は原則次の講義内で解説する。試験についてはGoogle Classroomを通して講評や解答例等を連絡する。

履修上の注意・履修要件
