Course Objectives and Learning Outcome
This course explores the role of Community Business as a lever for regional economic and social development. This exploration touches on both Japanese and worldwide trends. The subject of community business overlaps with a number of fields including the nonprofit sphere, social entrepreneurship, SMEs, community currencies and others. This multiplicity is reflected in the course contents.
Course Objectives: 1) For students to acquire foundational knowledge of community business theory. 2) For students to deepen their understanding by exploring their particular interests within this field through class discussion and assignments. Subtitle and Keywords of the Class

Precautions for using Generative AI
In principal students academic essays should be completely written by themselves.
However, students who will find this too difficult are allowed to use AI to a limited degree. Furthermore, they have to state whether or not they used AI when submitting the essay. Honestly, if you cannot write your essay by yourself, you probably shouldn't be taking this course. Textbook

Contents and Estimated Time for Pre- and Post- Learning (Preparation and Review)
Students will be given the lecture slides and readings to prepare for each lecture. Preparation for each lecture will require about 30 minutes.
