Academic Goals of Teacher Training Course

Course Objectives and Learning Outcome
The purpose of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to use and practice spoken language necessary in daily life (both academic and non-academic).This course includes language skills appropriate to the post-basic level up to the upper intermediate and advanced levels.
Upon the completion of this course, students will be able to provide extended explanations of various issues and phenomena and take part in academic discussions.

Contents and Estimated Time for Pre- and Post- Learning (Preparation and Review)
Students are expected to use at least 60 minutes in preparation for each class (reviewing the content of the previous class)
Contents of Active Learning
Check the answers to the grammar problems in groups.


Grading Criteria and Methods
Grading criteria:
S (90%~) excellent (thorough mastery of course material & concepts)
A (80%~) good (proficient grasp of most course material & concepts)
B (70%~) fair (general understanding of principal course material & concepts)
C (60%~) poor but passing (superficial familiarity with some course material)
In order to obtain the credits for this course, at least a C (60%) is necessary.

Evaluation methods:
Class performance, assignments, quizzes 50%, midterm 25 %, final exam 25%

Students will receive continuous feedback in class, and directly after the midterm.

*Students are expected to actively participate in class, and to prepare (by reviewing or studying the materials indicated by the instructor) before each class.

*This class is part of integrated learning with the course named “Practical Japanese”. Students are strongly recommended to register for both classes.
*You may try one class above your level, but you may not register for a lower level class.
