Academic Goals of Teacher Training Course

Course Objectives and Learning Outcome
The course aims to help students with little or no prior background in Mandarin Chinese to acquire a foundational knowledge of the language and develop basic skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
By the end of the course, students are expected to: ① Master the pronunciation system and basic grammatical structures. ② Conduct daily conversations using simple Chinese. ③ Read and write short passages. The use of generative AI tools is permitted in this course only within the specific scope outlined below. Any use beyond this scope is prohibited. Students must strictly follow the instructor's detailed guidance regarding any such use.
1. Permitted Uses Generative AI may be used only for: ・Summarizing lecture materials. ・Drafting outlines or initial text for assignments and reports. ・Translating or proofreading documents. 2. Conditions and Responsibilities Students are fully responsible for their own work when using AI. This means that you must: ・Check everything: you must carefully check all facts, sources and logic in anything the AI helps you to create. ・Cite sources. Properly cite any sources, ideas or text you use, including those found or suggested by the AI. ・Add Your Own Ideas: You must contribute your own original ideas, analysis, and conclusions. Simply copying and pasting AI-generated text into your assignment will be considered cheating (plagiarism) and is not allowed. 3. Consequences of Breaking the Rules If a student uses AI in a way that is not allowed or does not follow these rules, there will be consequences. For the assignment in question, the student may receive a zero grade. For more serious violations, the student may fail the entire course.
