Course Objectives and Learning Outcome

【講義目的】アメリカの看護学専門誌American Journal of Nursingに掲載された看護師・医療従事者によるエッセイを取り上げる。患者たちやその家族と向き合った彼らのストーリーを読み進めながら、エッセイの中で扱われているアメリカ医療と生活に関わる事柄について自分の意見を論理的に伝えられるよう養成する。
【到達目標】１）英文の語順に即した精読を通じて文章から正確かつ詳細な情報を読み取り、２）エッセイの随所に見られる医療英語の自然な表現や重要語句を用い、３）アメリカ医療の実情を日本と比較しつつ、それに関わる諸問題について意見の表明ができること。

Grading Criteria and Methods

【成績評価の基準】アメリカ医療事情に関する英文の意味を正しく説明し、それについての自分の意見を論理的に伝えることができる者については、講義目的・到達目標に記載する能力（知識・技能、思考力、表現力等）の到達度に基づき、S（90点以上）、A（80点以上）、B（70点以上）、C（60点以上）による成績評価の上、単位を付与する。
【成績評価の方法】理解度確認テスト70%・英文解説や意見表明など授業で発言30%をベースとして総合的に評価する。

予習対象の課題や理解度確認テストの解説は授業内で行う。

Precautions and Requirements for Course Registration

語義の確認など基本的な作業を怠らず、その記憶にも十分な時間をかけるようにしてください。英語の語順にできる限り密着した解釈を行っていくので、日本語の一般的な語順にそった和訳を予習段階で用意する必要はありません。また、意見等の積極的な発信を重要視します。
