Academic Goals of Teacher Training Course

Course Objectives and Learning Outcome

【講義目的】

This course is aimed at providing the students with basic listening and speaking skills in Japanese using a variety of audio and video material on topics relevant for university students in Japan.

【到達目標】

By the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to answer and formulate questions on different topics, while also being able to have a coherent, logical conversation in Japanese.

Course Overview and Schedule
【講義内容】
Each class will introduce grammar and vocabulary patterns necessary for effective communication in Japanese. The students will engage in listening practice based on audio and video material from the textbook and other sources, while also practicing their speaking skills using the newly acquired information.

Precautions for using Generative AI
In this course, the use of generative AI is strictly prohibited. Any use during class is forbidden, and if a violation is discovered, credits may not be granted or may be revoked.
Regardless of whether generative AI is used or not, students must pay attention to the contents described in “Guidelines on the Use of Generative AI in Education at the University of Hyogo (For Students)”

Contents and Estimated Time for Pre- and Post- Learning (Preparation and Review)

【Pre-Learning】 Students are expected to use at least 60 minutes in preparation for each class, completing the indicated assignments and reviewing the content of the previous class.

【Post-Learning】 Students are expected to prepare for the midterm and the final exam by reviewing the content of each class.

Contents of Active Learning
As part of the class activities, the students will engage in group work meant to facilitate the comprehension of the provided material. They will also engage in conversation practice, thus actively using the information introduced in each class.
Grading Criteria and Methods

【成績評価の基準】

Grading criteria:

S (90%~) excellent (thorough mastery of course material & concepts)

A (80%~) good (proficient grasp of most course material & concepts)

B (70%~) fair (general understanding of principal course material & concepts)

C (60%~) poor but passing (superficial familiarity with some course

material)

To obtain the credits for this course, at least a C (60%) is necessary.

Evaluation methods:

Active contribution to class activities 30%, midterm 30%, final exam 40%

Feedback and explanations for the assignments and the midterm will be given in class.

Students are expected to actively participate in class activities and to prepare in advance by completing the indicated assignments and reviewing the content of the previous class.
