This course aims to develop students’ practical English communication skills through casual and familiar topics.
 
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Communicate ideas clearly in English using simple presentation structures,
- Deliver short presentations on everyday and personal topics,
- Use effective presentation techniques (eye contact, voice, gestures) to deliver a presentation,
- Interact with peers through discussion and feedback in English.

English Presentation Skills

Students will practice planning, organizing, and delivering short presentations in English while focusing on fluency, confidence, and audience awareness.
Emphasis is placed on hands-on activities, peer interaction, and learning by doing.

Limited permission for use of AI
When using generative AI, please pay attention to the contents described in “Guidelines on the Use of Generative AI in Education at the University of Hyogo (For Students).” In this course, the use of generative AI is permitted only within the following scope, and use beyond this scope is prohibited.  
Students must follow the instructions of the instructor regarding the use of generative AI. If it is found that generative AI has been used beyond the scope approved by the instructor, credits may not be granted or may be revoked. It is important to verify factual accuracy and check/add sources and references for any content generated by AI. Submitting AI-generated output directly as assignments or reports is strictly prohibited.

[Preparation] Read in advance the assigned sections of the textbook and on-demand materials as instructed for each class, and prepare for presentations. (15 hours)
[Review] Re-read the textbook and on-demand materials to deepen understanding of the lecture content and consolidate learning. (15 hours)

Presentation and Discussion

In-class performance: 30%
Individual Presentations: 40%
Group Presentations: 30%

Feedback will be given on presentation skills. Additional support is available by appointment.

This class is a required course for the Global Leader Education Program (GLEP). Non-GLEP students who would like to take this course need to submit the application form in the application period. The number of the students who can take this course is 15 per section, and depending on the number of GLEP students and non-GLEP applicants, the non-GLEP students will be selected according to their proficiency level. Details concerning the application and selection procedures for non-GLEP students will be posted on Universal Passport in July or August.

Research and/or fieldwork for presentations is expected to be done outside of class.
