【Course Objectives】
University of Hyogo offers 'Community Planner Program' as one of minor programs. This program was established after Great East Japan Earthquake(2011) by the partnership with Miyagi university in Sendai City. Also our university has the experience of Hanshin Awaji Great Earthquake. Through these disasters, we re-realized the importance of community. But there are so many issues to sustain communities. This course provide basic understanding about the status and issues of present community and planning skill to resolve them and make communities sustainable while utilizing resources in those communities. 【Learning Outcome】 Through studies in this course, students will be able, 1) To explain about current problems and issues inherent in the current community and background of them. 2) To create plan for solving problems and issues while collaborating with other students. 3) To give presentation about that plan clearly and effectively. 授業のサブタイトル・キーワード

This course introduces status of current community and challenging activities for solving issues practically and gives small trial for to put the plan into practice. Through lectures, case studies, trials and discussions, students will explore practical planning skill to make community sustainable.
【Lecture content】 In this course, students will study status of real communities and activities for community enhancement through small field trip near our campus. After these studies, students will make a plan for community enhancement and make a small trial in this campas. Finnally, students create practical plan for community enhancemento by utirizing of local rsources through group work and presentation. 【Class schedule】 1. Guidance (explaining the goals and outline of this lecture) and group formation < Study about status of real community > 2. Study about traditional Japanese community : Small field trip for farmers village near this campus 3. 成績評価の基準・方法
[Grading Criteria]
Students who identify the challenges facing the community and develop a feasible plan to address them will be graded on the effectiveness and feasibility of their plan using the following scale: S (90 points or higher), A (80 points or higher), B (70 points or higher), C (60 points or higher). Credits will be awarded based on this evaluation. [Evaluation Method] • Assignment Submission (30%) – After the lecture 5, students will submit an individual written assignment about problems and issues on community. • Individual Presentation (30%) – Each student will deliver an individual presentation based on topics covered in lectures 1-8. • Group Presentation (40%) – Students will collaborate in groups to create community business plan in lectures 9-14. Graded assignments and presentations will be returned with feedback through the university’s learning management system or email. Students will receive evaluation comments to help improve their understanding and performance.
Final Grades: Overall course grades will be released according to the university’s academic calendar. 履修上の注意・履修要件
・In this course, several field trips, surveys and works will be conducted in local community. Students have to participate in these surveys or works wearing appropriate attire and follow the instructions of lecturer. Be aware that residents are observing you.
・In group work, each student is expected to contribute sufficiently to achieve result. 実践的教育
This course qualifies as practical education because it is taught by lecturer who had served in national government administration, drawing upon his administrative experience.
