This third course in the thesis research sequence provides additional foundational training in research methods and academic writing for students examining the intersections of Japanese business, culture, and global media. While students may choose individual research topics, all projects will engage critically with representations of business practices, ethical debates, and cultural narratives in media contexts. Students will learn how to transform broad interests into focused research questions, design small-scale qualitative studies, and write analytically in academic English. Emphasis is placed on research design, literature review writing, and introductory qualitative methods such as discourse analysis, textual analysis, media content analysis, and basic interviewing. The syllabus will adapt to reflect students’ thesis topics. A significant amount of reading and writing is required. 授業での使用言語
