Course Objectives and Learning Outcome

講義目的：イギリスにおける植物資源の利用について食料自給および庭園および園芸の発展から考察し、世界各地の植物資源を奪取し食料や花と緑を様々に生活の中に取り入れてきたイギリス文化の特徴を理解することを目的とする。自然資源を国内のみならず海外に求め、いかにしてイギリスの庭空間が形成されたか、また海外の植物資源と植民地経営から生み出された独自の文化の在り方について、検討し分析できるように、文化研究への基本的な方法論を身につけるのが目的である。
到達目標：イギリスが国内の緑環境を形成し、植物資源を海外に求め利用してきた歴史を、何らかの視点から分析的、批判的に説明することができること。

Course Overview and Schedule

第１回〜第８回は、イギリスの歴史および庭園様式、園芸の発展、アメリカ植民地等について講義する。
第9回〜第15回は、海洋探検とプラントハンティング、茶の木と園芸文化の展開、ワイルド・ガーデンなどのテーマで講義する。各回の内容は次の通りである。
1．授業の概要についてーイギリスの歴史と風土
2．海洋進出と植民地、庭園様式の発達
3．フランシス・ベーコンの庭
4．オランダ風の庭、園芸の発展
5．18世紀の植物学、有用植物と庭の設計
6．イギリス風景庭園とアメリカの植物

8．イギリスの歴史と緑資源の追求（前半のまとめ）
9．海洋探検と太平洋の植物資源

授業終了前の時間を使って毎回の授業内容についてのミニ課題を記述する。次の授業で講評を行う。

Grading Criteria and Methods

成績評価の基準：イギリスの植物資源の在り方等について基礎的な知識を習得し、歴史的な発展を理解して文化研究への基本的な方法論を身につけているものに単位を与える。
講義目的及び到達目標に記載された内容についての理解度によって、Ｓ（90点以上）、A（80点以上）、B（70点以上）、からＣ（60点以上）までの評価を与える。
評価方法：毎回のミニ課題20％と二回のレポート80％によって総合的に評価する。

レポートは２回分を終了後ユニバーサル・パスポートで全体的な講評を行う。
